Our world is fast-paced, and the commercial industry quickly picks up on the various consumer demands. Shortly after dentists started providing teeth whitening treatments, manufacturers went to work creating products safe for commercial sale. For many years now, the aisles in stores have been lined with various teeth whitening products, ranging from toothpastes to strip whiteners.
Due to their low price and accessibility, commercial whiteners are usually the first thing people try when they want to remove stains from teeth. Many of these same people ultimately make a trip to their dentist, so they can get the results they really want.
Commercial whiteners are not capable of removing some stains that have taken years to develop, and they can be risky. Although the amount of chemicals in strips is significantly lower than what your dentist provides, there is still risk to gum tissue, should chemicals contact the gums. Due to the design of whitening strips, there is no way to guarantee chemicals will not reach gum tissue, as they are easily moved once in place.

Using the at-home whitening option, which is affordable, effective, and convenient, whitening trays are molded to fit against teeth. This means that whitening gel is contained against teeth, and will not contact the gums, where irritation may occur.
